As fans of hip-hop continue to get more calloused and used to the mainstream, we tend to start looking for someone to deliver a different sound than what we are used to. Enter Hopsin & SwizZz. With Hopsin’s interesting voice, SwizZz’s tight lyrics and an eerie yet effective production style, these cats are definitely bringing “different” to the table. Peep out the interview with Hopsin & Swizz on Episode #92 of the HoodHype show.
What up?! The blog has been a bit scarce lately and although I thought I’d be able to stay on top of it, we’ve been staying so damn busy, it gets really hard to keep up with it all. Posting itself really isn’t that tough, what it really comes down to is perusing the web every day and trying to find stuff that we really enjoy watching, reading or listening to. We try to pride ourselves on our little in-house M.O. which is posting things we like and what we think you guys would like rather than just posting every damn thing under the sun for the sake of website traffic.
As I’m sure you already know, it takes alot of time to sift through piles of shit to get out the really good stuff, and that is the issue I’ve been running into here. At least for the summer.
So if anyone out there is interested in posting, cross posting, guest blogging with us, PLEASE hit me up with some examples of your work. If you have an okay grasp of the English language and understand basic internet technologies (blogging, twitter etc), you’ve at least graduated beyond the second grade and you can get me loads of whores for my weekend binges, then we’d love to have you aboard. (The last two things are optional but can’t hurt).
We don’t do much in the form of money, but we’d be more than happy to ship you one of our INCREDIBLY AMAZING t-shirts for your efforts once we get you on board. (Don’t worry RideOut, you’ve already got one on reserve by default).
Hit me up ANY time at jmack@hoodhype.com with links to examples of your work if you’re interested!
Been busy as hell, sorry for the retarded delay everybody. Summer has already been busy as all get out. GOOD THINGS are still comin’ just like this free B.o.B. vs Bobby Ray album. Download it, listen to it, enjoy it. I know I am and so will you. That’s why you come back here, for the good shit. I pulled a few of my favorite cuts from the album below.
Back in the building! Or…well…on the website! We had a great episode which not only featured some hot new indie tracks, but we also got a chance to catch up with Detroit’s own DJ House Shoes to talk about the whole mess going on with a certain New York MC and Jay Dilla. We also finally got a chance to catch up with Playboy Tre and spoke with the winners of Episode #90, Hopsin & SwizZz
New banger from Sai produced by The Kickdrums. The thing I don’t get is this beat was already used by the homies from Kalamazoo, M.E.D.. You can head over to their myspace page and check out the track “Do You”. Some of the vocal samples have been taken out on Sai’s version, but the guts of the beat are the same.
We’re back again! I know the blog has been slow, but for good reason. We’ve been doing alot of work behind the scenes to make HoodHype an even better spot for you to get the best indie hip-hop music and get involved with the community! (no we aren’t launching a social networking site……lol)
Episode #92 of the HoodHype show will be recorded LIVE tonight at 6:30 pm EST! Hope to see all of you there! Click here to get in the chat!!
Truth be told, I check for new episodes of this show and JoeBuddenTV (irony?) relgiously every morning with my morning coffee. Today’s was a good one, shouts to Donny Goines for the lil mini-cameo in the backdrop lol.
