Kooley High is still rockin it with another single from their upcoming album Eastern Standard Time.  Sounds like it’s turning out to be quite a fresh underground album.  I also just found out these guys are going on tour with the undergound group I love to hate most, Tanya Morgan.  Congrats to Kooley High, of course I know you guys are passing up Michigan on your tour, so for that reason I’m not posting your tour dates.   How you like me now!?

What’s up y’all,

Maaan oh man we got something special today! See that image up there with the portable hard drive? What is that? That’s a 250gig hard Drive we received from a fan of the show (What up Seargant Chucky Bob of the USAF!!) LOADED with a massive music and flix collection. We were so inspired by this dude’s generosity we decided to dedicate a special episode to him and this Hard Drive full of music.

We haven’t touched it yet. We haven’t even looked at it yet! It’s sitting here in it’s box just like you see it in the pic above. We wanted to wait till we could sit down together with all of you guys in the basement and go through it. We’re assuming it’s mostly commercial music, so this is why we’re calling this, “the super secret illegal episode” lol. So later today we’ll spin random tracks off the drive as well as queue up some random, not safe for work, videos/flix Chucky threw in there lol.

So stay tuned, although we don’t have a locked in time, it will definitely be sometime this afternoon after 2pm Eastern. I will make sure we email you before we go LIVE as a reminder. This has been making the rounds for a couple of days, and I’d been hearing a lot of negative about Shyne’s verses. After getting a chance to listen a couple times, I gotta agree with people, Shyne sounds like a train wreck on this track. WTF happened to dude? I guess you have to give him a pass being locked down for so long, but a lot of cats come home from their bids spittin fire not sounding worse than ever. I hope this is only temporary, and Shyne can regain his form.

I think Floyd is going to be in for the toughest fight of his life. Shane is bigger than Floyd, has knockout power, and an iron chin. This fight will be much more difficult than the fight with Pacman . I know a lot of people were yapping about Floyd being scared of Manny, but I think this fight should silence all that garbage. If you got a chance to listen to the live recording of Episode #105 last Thursday, then you may have already caught this.  But for those of you who didn’t let me tell you about a caller that changed 2010 for us.

We were just wrapping up Episode #105 on Thursday, we already cut the feed to Smoothbeats Radio and Major was prepping for our goodbyes and  the final rundown when a caller came in last minute.  This dude “Lou from Alaska” calls in and explains how he was on Discovery Channel’s  “Deadliest Catch” and listened to HoodHype Podcast on the boat.  What?!  You’re on the Behring sea, you could die any second and you’re listening to HoodHype.  Yo, if that’s not the hardest shit I’ve ever heard I don’t know what is lol.

Like @Majorhh Says, I’m a “Diamond District Slappy” and you should be too.  These guys dropped one of the hottest (one of the few) Boom Bap albums of 2009 which made huge waves across the internet and iTunes.  For an independent group with virtually no backing to just drop out of the sky and break out like this is definitely not commonplace in today’s fickle, volatile, nitpicky ass marketplace.

Keep your eyes peeled for that “Diamond District Remixes” album coming soon featuring this remix.

This would have been a hot show to be at.  Something about a live band recreating the magic of a studio produced track can make a song take a whole different feeling.  Roots should sit down with an MC and re-do their entire album with live instruments.

First off, all 3 of these dudes killed it. I love the energy that Em and Wayne brought, and you could genuinely see Drake’s excitement come through in his performance. Now moving on to CBS, WTF were their censors doing? I can understand muting a word or two, or even a phrase, but these bastards were taking out whole bars at a time. That is the worst live show edit job I’ve ever seen, and reminded me why I usually don’t f with the Grammy’s and end up watching something else. It’s too bad because in the end, it’s the fans watching at home who got f’d over.

No thanks to the legal system and weak sample clearance laws, Budden wasn’t able to include this gem on his upcoming release. All good though because we all get to enjoy it for free.

THIS is good music. People always want an example of “good hip-hop music” when you say what they play on the radio is absolute shit. I can’t think of a better example than this track. Lyrical talent, incredibly well put together backdrop (J.Cardim) and an incedibly interesting story. This is what it’s all about right here. Artists being artistic with their talent and creating. I love it.
