Don’t really know what to say, but this cat will be seriously missed. For people who followed Def Comedy Jam, Bernie Mac was a familiar name. Fans of the HBO series knew who Bernie was long before Ocean’s Eleven, Bad Santa, Guess Who, etc. For those who don’t remember Mac’s early days, peep a couple of the clips below. Before the big name movies, Mac made numerous appearances in urban films. Some of my favorite cameos were Jangle Leg in Life, Dollar Bill in The Players Club, and Uncle Vester in House Party 3.

When Bernie made a cameo, it was always memorable. I remember thinking to myself, ‘what will it take for this dude to blow-up?’. On August 18, 2000 I got my answer as The Original Kings of Comedy debuted. On that night, Bernie stole the damn show. I remember thinking, ‘finally……, Mac has his mainstream coming out party’. After Kings of Comedy, he went on to land his own series on FOX, larger roles in major movies, and the rest of the world was introduced to the Bernie Mac we’d been enjoying for years.

Bernie was an original dude, and had a personality and comedic style that can’t be duplicated. Bernie Mac, another classic gone too soon.

Pt. 2

Dude has too many good clips to post, so I’ll be throwing up tributes during the week.
